With so much of the V8 Supercar trackside experience behind a paywall, Shell needed to bring fans closer to the action. So we created the very first V8 supercars hotlap in a box. A mini-cinema experience to tour with the competition, complete with screens that maxed out your field of vision, bone-shaking Dolby surround sound and fully immersive 4D sensory effects.

The Experience

Inside fans were treated to a welcome from Racing legend Dick Johnson, an in-depth circuit rundown by the drivers, with track diagnostics playing on a double giant screens. Then a hotlap in unprecedented 34:9 ultra-widescreen captured from an 8K seven camera setup, rigged onto the Team DJR Shell Ford Mustang redlining around Phillip Island. Heatlamps, scented smoke machines and optional haptic vests timed to the action completed the high-octane immersion.
